Pekka Niskanen is a media artist, video and filmmaker who has shown his works world wide. His most important one man show was in White Box gallery in April 2004 in New York where he showed his video installation ”Ryokan Mother Tongue” Other major works include street billboard works ”You Want to Know” (1996), ”Another Person” (1997) and a film ”A Girl Bathing in a Kitchen Sink” (2000) that belong to the
collection Helsinki City Art Museum. Installation ”Stefan Lindfors” (1993), site specific work ”I Like Him and Her” (1995) and a videoinstallation ”As
a Matter of Fat” (1998) and are part of the collection of Contemporary Art Museum in Helsinki. Niskanen has visualized as well experimental theatre in Finland. He realized the set design and costumes for Verdi’s Rigoletto in Gothenburg’s Opera in Sweden 2005. Niskanen has curated art shows for museums and art institutions in Finland and functioned as a media art lecturer in Art and Design University (Helsinki), Art Academy (Helsinki) and Tampere Polytechnic.
